Some tourists look to rent local cars to get around the city. The road network in Berlin is highly efficient, as is the organization and location of travel signs and directional markings, making driving around Berlin a pleasure. Visitors can rent cars from all major railways stations as well as 
airports and other city locations.
Berlin is much easier to navigate and drive in than some major cities such as Rome, Barcelona or Catania. The city has an excellent local transportation system though so unless you are planning to outside of Berlin your best bet can be to simply use the trains, U-Bhan and S-Bahn.
If you do decide to rent a car make sure to remember that:
- Front and back seat belts are required to be used by law.
- Drink driving is taken very seriously in Berlin and all over Germany.
- In Germany, on the spot driving fines can be given.
