Berlin has dozens of youth hostels and covering all areas of Berlin including Mitte, Charlottenburg, Schoneberg, Pankow and Spandau. Prices and standards vary greatly and room sizes range from 2 bed private rooms through to dorms with anything up to 16 in a room. Common though is 4, 6 or 8 people per room and sometimes mixed and sometimes male or female only. Below 3 of our favourite Berlin Youth Hostels.
1. Berlin Generator Youth Hostel

The Generator youth hostel (sister of the London Generator hostel) is a large building which is well organised as a hostel and offers comfortable rooms and decent prices. The Hostel is in a good location and an easy train ride to Alexanderplatz.
The hostel has its own bar and they organised walking tours leave from the venue and is the 
largest youth hostel in Berlin.

This is an excellent youth hostel which ticks all of the boxes in that it has a great location,atmosphere and feels like a safe place to stay. The facilities are excellent and include a Garden, Internet Access, tea and coffee facilities, kitchen and clean rooms.
This is one of the best hostels I have personally stayed in across Europe and this hostel often wins awards for being rated one of the top youth hostels in Germany.
3. The Circus Hostel, Berlin

The Circus Hostel in Berlin, Germany is many people's favourite youth hostel and this is certainly a very good option and gets great reviews. The facilities are excellent as are the location and the security aspect of the hostel.
Facilities include Internet access, free Internet and walking tours which leave from the hostel. You can only rent bicycles from this hostel.
